Service

Websites for local businesses that bring in calls and booked jobs.

For trades and local services: plumbers, HVAC, remodelers, cleaners, law firms, salons. Google Business Profile wired to the site, LocalBusiness schema so search engines and AI know your service area, a page for each service and each town you cover, and click-to-call one tap away. Fast on a phone, because that is where the calls come from.

The build

What you get with a local business build

What is a local business website?

It is a site built to turn nearby searches into contact. Someone searching "emergency plumber near me" or "family lawyer in [town]" lands, sees within seconds that you cover their area, and calls. It leans on local signals, a linked Google Business Profile, LocalBusiness schema, consistent name, address and phone, and service-area pages, rather than trying to rank nationally.

What is included when I build your local site?

You get service pages and service-area pages for the towns you cover, a Google Business Profile set up or cleaned up and linked to the site, and LocalBusiness and Service schema that states your service area. Click-to-call and click-for-directions sit in the header and footer, there is a map embed and a reviews section pulling from Google, and the enquiry form tells you which service and area each lead came from. Name, address and phone stay identical on every page. The build is mobile-first and fast.

Who it is best for

Trades and home services (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, remodeling, fencing, landscaping, cleaning), local professionals (law, dental, accounting), and any business serving a defined area. If you sell products rather than services, see the WooCommerce page; if budget is the main constraint, see the Small Business page.

Baked in

Fast and findable, not bolted on after.

Fast on a phone, where the calls come from

Local searches happen on mobile, often on a weak connection. Every build targets 90+ on PageSpeed and passing Core Web Vitals on real hardware. I handle image formats, lazy-loading, font loading and critical CSS, and keep whichever builder we use tuned down.

Straight talk: desktop scores come back green. On mobile the lab throttles CPU and network hard, so Performance can land in the high 80s, the fast end of the "good" band, with load and layout stability still green. The screenshots are a real example from a contractor site I built.

SEO and AEO from the first commit

  • Clean semantic HTML and one clear H1 per page
  • JSON-LD schema per template (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, Breadcrumb)
  • Per-page titles, meta and Open Graph
  • XML sitemap, image alt text, sensible internal linking
  • Answers written as real questions so AI engines can quote them

Questions

Local sites, answered.

How long does a local business website take?

Most run three to five weeks: about a week for design and content, two to three weeks for the build including service-area pages, then a review round.

Do you set up my Google Business Profile?

Yes. I set up a new profile or clean up an existing one: categories, service area, hours, services, photos, and a link to the new site. A well-kept profile is one of the strongest signals for showing up in the local map results.

What are service-area pages?

A page for each town or region you serve, with content specific to that area rather than a copy-paste. They give search engines and AI a clear answer to whether you cover a location, and they are often what ranks for a "[service] in [town]" search.

Do I need a separate page for every town I serve?

Not always. If you cover twenty towns, we usually build strong pages for the priority areas and group the rest. Thin, near-identical pages for every hamlet can hurt more than help.

Can you help me rank in the Google map pack?

I build the on-site foundation: LocalBusiness schema, service-area pages, consistent name, address and phone, a linked and tidy Google Business Profile, and fast mobile pages. Ranking also depends on reviews and citations over time, which is ongoing work rather than a one-off.

Do you provide support after launch?

Yes, either ad hoc or on a monthly retainer covering updates, backups, security and speed monitoring.

Cost

What it costs.

$18 / hour

A local business site typically runs about $250–$700, depending on how many services and service areas it covers. Fixed-price or hourly, both work through Upwork with escrow.

What moves the number

  • How many services and service-area pages you need
  • Whether design is provided or created from scratch
  • Google Business Profile: new setup or cleanup of an existing one
  • Integrations: booking, live chat, call tracking, CRM
  • How much existing content has to be migrated
